Engine Storekeeper

About the role

The Engine Storekeeper is responsible for managing the loading, storage, discharge and integrity of stores for the Technical department aboard ship. Using the AMOS and MMS systems, the role ensures accurate inventory levels, compliance with safety, environmental and sanitation standards, and proper documentation in line with company policy.

Key responsibilities

• Enter and maintain all goods data in the AMOS system and distribute information to relevant departments.
• Monitor inventory levels, ensuring they stay within acceptable values and par stock.
• Control consumable waste and spoilage, performing spot‑checks with department heads.
• Report inventory discrepancies and investigate causes.
• Manage returns to vendors and verify documentation complies with customs regulations and MSC standards.
• File inventory lists, invoices, delivery notes and landing manifests.
• Conduct scheduled stock counts and communicate results weekly; assist with additional counts on request.
• Provide detailed stock inventories to the Chief Engineer or Staff Captain as needed.
• Alert responsible sectors promptly about slow‑moving goods.

Required profile

• Fluent oral and written English; Italian or other languages are a plus.
• Full compliance with flag‑state safety, health and physical requirements.
• Documentation in accordance with STCW 95 standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the AMOS system.
• Experience using MMS (Maritime Management System).
• Knowledge of customs regulations and MSC standards.
• STCW 95 certification.
• Inventory management and stock‑count procedures.
