Sommelier – Luxury Cruise Hospitality

About the role

Explora Journeys is seeking a professional Sommelier to deliver exceptional wine service across its onboard venues. The role involves curating wine lists, pairing wines with cuisine, and ensuring guests receive a memorable beverage experience while sailing.

Key responsibilities

• Provide outstanding wine service in all restaurants and bars, assisting in the creation of wine menus.
• Recommend and pair wines with diverse cuisines and cooking methods.
• Handle guest complaints related to wine service promptly and courteously.
• Train dining and bar staff regularly on wine knowledge and service standards.
• Oversee wine inventory, produce inventory reports, and maintain accurate stock levels.
• Apply food safety and quality procedures in all wine‑related processes.

Required profile

• High school certificate.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Sommelier in luxury or premium hospitality.
• Excellent knowledge of fine wines and premium beverages.
• Basic understanding of food safety principles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for hospitality and customer service.
• Cruise industry experience is an advantage.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; additional European language is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Experience using accounting and computerized dining software.
