Refrigeration Technician – Shipboard HVAC & Refrigeration

About the role

As a Refrigeration Technician on MSC cruise vessels, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of shipboard air‑conditioning systems, provision‑area refrigeration units, and all onboard refrigerators. Working closely with the Chief Refrigeration Technician, you will maintain optimal climate control for passengers and uphold food‑storage standards throughout each voyage.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Monitor system performance and adjust settings to meet safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to plan and execute preventive maintenance.
• Document work performed and maintain compliance with maritime regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with technical certification in refrigeration/air‑conditioning.
• Proven experience maintaining refrigeration systems, preferably in maritime or hospitality environments.
• Valid maritime refrigeration technician certification (or equivalent).
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Physical ability to work in confined spaces and handle equipment.
