Public Area Attendant

About the role

The Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of crew and officer cabins, as well as all public areas on board a cruise ship. Working under the supervision of the Assistant Housekeeper, the role supports the delivery of high‑standard hospitality services to guests and crew.

Key responsibilities

• Attend daily briefings with the Assistant Housekeeper and communicate housekeeping challenges.
• Follow and execute the cleaning schedules established by housekeeping management.
• Dispose of garbage according to public‑health regulations and complete lint and waste‑separation logs.
• Report any maintenance issues promptly to the Housekeeping team.
• Assist with embarkation and debarkation duties as required.
• Maintain and sanitize all assigned areas, including carpet and upholstery shampooing according to rotation.
• Support team members, uphold a sense of urgency, and help minimise waste and breakage.
• Accurately record working hours on the timesheet.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in a similar housekeeping position; cruise‑ship experience preferred.
• Physical ability to climb, bend, perform repetitive motions and lift heavy items.
• Good physical fitness and ability to work in a maritime environment.
• Fluent written and spoken English; additional European languages are a plus.
