Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

DOA21 Ltd, an EASA‑approved Design Organisation based in Malta, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to develop, substantiate, certify and release mechanical solutions for aircraft modifications, repairs and certification projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical design data, engineering, installation, assembly and interface drawings, and parts lists for aircraft modifications and repairs.
• Develop design solutions for structures, interiors, equipment installations, brackets, panels and fairings.
• Produce design, substantiation, stress and test reports and support certification documentation.
• Review aircraft manuals, drawings, service bulletins and technical records, and support surveys, conformity inspections and ground/flight testing.
• Collaborate with compliance engineers, suppliers, customers, maintenance organisations and regulators, identifying technical and certification risks early.

Required profile

• Degree, apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Aerospace or Aircraft Engineering.
• Previous mechanical design experience in aviation, aerospace, defence or a regulated engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, fasteners, structures and manufacturing methods.
• Ability to interpret aircraft manuals, drawings and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication skills and a solution‑focused, detail‑oriented approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Inventor.
• Experience producing engineering drawings and technical design documentation.
• Familiarity with EASA Part 21, CS‑23 and CS‑25 certification requirements (desirable).
