Kitchen Steward

About the role

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for supervising and maintaining the cleanliness of galley areas and related spaces within the Food & Beverage department on board. This role ensures compliance with USPH regulations, food safety standards, and company policies while supporting the overall operation of the ship’s kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain cleanliness of galleys, adjacent areas, and kitchenware storage.
• Oversee cleaning equipment, washing machines, and ensure proper use to prevent loss or breakage.
• Manage inventory of cleaning materials and chemicals.
• Control garbage segregation according to company policies.
• Monitor and enforce food safety procedures and quality requirements.
• Prepare assigned areas for USPH simulated inspections.
• Coordinate timing of food service events, including embarkation and tender service setups.
• Assist with host mess set‑up, cleaning, and loading operations.
• Monitor subordinates’ time cards for accuracy.
• Ensure adherence to all safety procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a hotel or cruise ship stewarding department.
• Elementary to middle school education (8th grade) or higher.
• Intermediate knowledge of food safety and basic understanding of ISO 22000.
• Fluent written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
