Information Technology Operations Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an IT Operations Engineer to manage day‑to‑day IT for our Malta office. The role combines end‑user support, network and on‑site infrastructure management, and participation in wider Group IT projects.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary IT contact for the Malta office, handling incidents, service requests and hardware lifecycle management.
• Administer Microsoft 365, including accounts, groups, licences, Intune policies and device provisioning.
• Maintain the office network – switching, routing, Wi‑Fi, VLANs, firewall rules and VPN access – and monitor server and service health.
• Support on‑premises Windows and Linux servers, Synology NAS storage, and perform backups, patching and capacity planning.
• Provide on‑site hardware work such as rack installation, structured cabling, UPS management and AV equipment support for meetings and events.
• Ensure security and compliance by applying baselines, supporting audits, and responding to security alerts.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in IT operations, support or systems/network administration, preferably in a multi‑site or international environment.
• Strong written and spoken English and a proactive ownership mentality.
• Willingness to provide occasional out‑of‑hours support for maintenance, incidents and major events.

Required skills

• Microsoft 365 administration (Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams) and Intune/M‑DM.
• Networking fundamentals – TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, Wi‑Fi design, firewalls and VPN.
• Hands‑on experience with Ubiquiti/UniFi, Cisco Meraki or Fortinet equipment.
• Windows Server and Linux system administration, including backups and patching.
• Synology NAS management – volumes, shares, snapshots and replication.
• Hardware installation – rack & stack, structured cabling, UPS and server‑room hygiene.
