Head of Projects – Engineering & Industrial Services

About the role

The organisation is looking for an experienced Head of Projects to lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of technically demanding engineering and industrial projects. Working closely with senior management, you will oversee each project from initial planning and commercial review through mobilisation, execution, commissioning and hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for planning and successful delivery of specialist engineering and industrial projects.
• Manage projects from scope definition, technical evaluation, procurement, execution, commissioning to final hand‑over.
• Review specifications, drawings, Bills of Quantities and programmes to establish technical and resource requirements.
• Lead and coordinate small teams of engineers, technicians and tradespeople.
• Appoint, brief and direct specialist subcontractors, monitoring quality, performance, schedule and compliance.
• Develop project programmes, resource plans and delivery schedules to ensure efficient completion.
• Coordinate electrical and mechanical installations, equipment integration and associated engineering works.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, manufacturers and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, resolve engineering and site challenges, and monitor costs, procurement and variations.
• Identify risks and implement technical and operational solutions.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory requirements and health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Oversee testing, commissioning and project hand‑over activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and report progress, cost and operational status to senior management.

Required profile

• Warranted Electrical Engineer or Warranted Mechanical Engineer (preferably based in Malta) or equivalent qualifications and experience.
• Proven experience leading engineering projects in industrial, power generation, heavy equipment, marine, manufacturing or infrastructure environments.
• Strong leadership with the ability to manage small engineering teams and specialist subcontractors.
