Head of Human Resources

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Human Resources to lead the HR function of a well‑established organisation. This strategic and operational role will work closely with senior management to shape HR strategy, foster a positive workplace culture, and ensure full compliance with employment legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across the entire employee lifecycle.
• Manage industrial relations, including union engagement, negotiations, disciplinary procedures, and grievance handling.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve HR policies, procedures and best practices.
• Drive recruitment, workforce planning and talent acquisition initiatives.
• Partner with managers to advise on employment legislation and people‑management issues.
• Oversee performance management, employee development and engagement programmes.
• Manage HR budgets, reporting and key people metrics.
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation and promote continuous improvement of HR processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within a unionised or industrial‑relations environment.
• Strong knowledge of Maltese employment legislation, industrial relations and collective agreements.
• Proven track record handling disciplinary cases, grievances and employee‑relations matters.
• Experience leading recruitment and workforce planning activities.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Background in manufacturing, logistics, industrial or similar operational settings is an asset.
