Experienced Marine Surveyor / Engineer / Naval Architect

About the role

Marine and Industrial Consultancy Services Ltd (MICS) is looking for an experienced Marine Surveyor, Marine Engineer or Naval Architect to join its technical consultancy team in Malta. The role combines office‑based engineering work with field assignments on vessels, shipyards and ports, supporting clients in commercial shipping, superyacht and marine industries.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct marine and vessel condition surveys, including pre‑purchase, on‑hire and off‑hire inspections.
• Supervise new construction and repair projects, verifying workmanship and materials.
• Perform marine, structural and machinery inspections and technical investigations.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, professional opinions and engineering documentation.
• Carry out naval architectural calculations, ship stability assessments and review of stability conditions.
• Execute FEM/FEA analyses and interpret results for structural assessments.
• Liaise with shipyards, owners, classification societies and authorities.
• Represent MICS professionally during site visits and stakeholder meetings.

Required profile

• Recognised engineering degree (minimum 240 ECTS, MQF Level 6) in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in maritime surveying, shipbuilding, repair or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of statutory, classification and stability requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
