Client Accountant

About the role

Business Doctors Malta is seeking a Client Accountant to own the accounting and financial needs of an assigned portfolio of clients. This hands‑on, client‑facing position blends accounting, client management and business support, allowing you to work directly with business owners and management teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain day‑to‑day accounting and bookkeeping for assigned clients, preparing monthly management accounts, cash‑flow reports, budgets and financial analysis.
• Prepare VAT returns, payroll and tax‑related submissions, and liaise with external auditors and professional advisors as needed.
• Respond to client queries, communicate financial information clearly, investigate discrepancies and take corrective action.
• Identify inefficiencies, propose improvements to accounting processes, systems and workflows, and contribute to wider client projects.

Required profile

• Currently studying towards ACCA, an accounting degree or holding a relevant qualification.
• Previous experience in a client‑accounting or practice environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and commercial mindset; able to work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Maltese, clean police conduct and a valid driving licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with accounting software; knowledge of Xero and SFM is an asset.
