Assistant Restaurant Manager

About the role

Under the guidance of the Restaurant Operations Manager, the Assistant Restaurant Manager ensures high‑quality service and guest satisfaction across all onboard venues, handling guest issues and supporting a pleasant dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Check restaurant reservations, cruise arrival and VIP lists and inform crew of VIP guests.
• Follow up with guests, especially VIPs, to ensure satisfaction and address special requests.
• Continuously seek improvements to departmental efficiency.
• Evaluate staff performance and discuss strengths and weaknesses with Restaurant Managers.
• Maintain a clean, tidy work area and report defective equipment.
• Apply knowledge of menus, cooking methods, cycles and presentation standards.
• Supervise and monitor food safety procedures and quality requirements.
• Accept flexible scheduling to deliver outstanding service.
• Assign and delegate working hours and side duties for restaurant staff.
• Provide direction to peers and ensure special guest requests are fulfilled.

Required profile

• Minimum four years of experience in luxury hospitality or cruise line restaurant operations.
• High school diploma; additional certificate or diploma confirming professional dining‑operations knowledge.
• Intermediate knowledge of food safety and HACCP.
• Strong communication skills with guests and diplomatic problem‑handling abilities.
• Fluent written and spoken English; additional European language is a plus.
• Valid passport, visas and required certificates for international travel.
