Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to provide high‑level financial oversight and bring strong technical expertise to our in‑house finance team. The role is hands‑on, requiring meticulous attention to detail and deep knowledge of both Xero and Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify transactions and accounting entries in Xero and Microsoft Dynamics 365, ensuring accurate categorisation and supporting documentation.
• Maintain a clear, consistent chart of accounts and prepare monthly reconciliations (bank, credit card, supplier, customer, balance‑sheet).
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, unreconciled balances, and incorrect postings.
• Prepare opening balances, management accounts, and other financial reports for internal and external review.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing procedures.
• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting work performed by junior staff, providing guidance on treatment, categorisation, and documentation.
• Establish and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Act as primary liaison with external accountants, coordinate annual financial statements, audits, and statutory filings.
• Assist with corporate tax computations and ensure compliance with regulatory deadlines.

Required profile

• A recognised professional accounting qualification or advanced stage of completion.
• Significant experience in a senior accounting or financial accounting role.
• Strong practical proficiency with both Xero and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Ability to work confidently across both systems and guide junior staff.
