Risk Officer

About the role

We are working with an insurance company seeking a Risk Officer to support the Risk Manager and help keep the Risk Management function running.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Risk Manager in maintaining and enhancing the company's Risk Management Framework, including policies, systems, and processes.
• Coordinate risk assessments and maintain the Risk Register, ensuring accurate identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of risks.
• Monitor the Risk Appetite Framework and Key Risk Indicators, escalating breaches and emerging risks as appropriate.
• Assist in preparing regulatory risk reporting such as ORSA, SFCR, and RSR through data collection, validation, and documentation.
• Contribute to Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning while maintaining accurate risk management records.
• Collaborate with business and control functions to promote a strong risk culture and support cross‑functional risk, compliance, and governance initiatives.
• Prepare risk reports and Board/Committee materials and support ad‑hoc regulatory, operational, and second‑line risk activities.

Required profile

• 2+ years of local experience in risk.
• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Maths, Business or a related field.
• Knowledge of the insurance market, underwriting philosophy, techniques, and regulatory environment is a plus.
• Strong communication skills in both English and Maltese.
• Availability to travel abroad occasionally for work‑related matters.
