Laboratory Manager

About the role

The European Forensic Institute, a fully accredited higher education institution specialising in criminology, forensic and investigative sciences, is looking for a Laboratory Manager to join its academic operations team. As a senior member of the team, the post holder has overall responsibility for the strategic planning, safety compliance and operational effectiveness of the laboratory facilities, and manages all laboratory resources and services supporting education, research and institutional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enforce EH&S policies in line with local and international safety standards
• Manage laboratory operations, including session planning, asset management and quality assurance of lab-based teaching and research
• Oversee procurement strategy, budgeting and vendor relations
• Evaluate facilities and activities, manage change and improve service delivery
• Supervise and guide lab personnel, including the Laboratory Coordinator
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on space, logistics and institutional planning
• Work with academic staff so that lab components are integrated into the curriculum
• Coordinate lab-based events, research projects and international programmes such as ERASMUS+
• Contribute to initiatives on digital resources, sustainability and institutional development

Required profile

• Master's degree in a scientific field
• Extensive experience in laboratory management, health and safety and operational leadership
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage cross-functional projects and drive continuous improvement
• First aid certification; additional EH&S certifications are an asset
