Housekeeping Manager (Cruise Ship)

About the role

The Housekeeping Manager leads the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department aboard a cruise ship, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, disinfection, and guest service across all accommodation, public, and crew areas.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee efficient daily housekeeping operations while complying with safety, security, and public health regulations.
• Manage ship laundry and linen room activities, maintaining inventory and proper storage.
• Implement and enforce standard operating procedures for all housekeeping tasks.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest suites and public spaces to uphold company cleanliness standards.
• Ensure food safety compliance throughout the department, referencing ISO 22000 and related guidelines.
• Provide training on Explora Journeys standards, safety data sheets, and chemical handling.
• Coordinate luggage handling, distribution, and off‑loading at the end of each journey.
• Monitor budgets, control costs, and minimize waste while delivering a premium travel experience.

Required profile

• High school diploma with hospitality specialization (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years proven experience as a Housekeeping Manager on cruise ships.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate multicultural teams.
• Experience managing budgets and inventory in a hospitality environment.
• Understanding of social accountability and fair HR practices.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of food safety principles.
• Basic knowledge of ISO 22000 standards.
• Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for chemical handling.
