Hotel Maintenance Engineer

About the role

As a Hotel Maintenance Engineer on a cruise vessel, you will ensure that all hotel‑related systems, appliances, and equipment operate safely and efficiently throughout the voyage. Your work directly supports guest comfort and the overall reputation of the cruise line.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the quality and safety of shipboard hotel facilities, including guest rooms and public areas.
• Diagnose and repair broken appliances, heating, air‑conditioning, lighting, and plumbing systems.
• Oversee the operation of HVAC systems, elevators, water‑treatment plants, and other hotel‑maintenance equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering and other departments to resolve issues quickly and minimise downtime.
• Monitor systems proactively to prevent failures and ensure compliance with maritime safety standards.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Familiarity with HVAC, elevators, water‑treatment plants, and general hotel‑maintenance equipment.
• Problem‑solving ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborative approach, working effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• STCW 95 certification or equivalent, with all required documents up to date.
• Recognised qualification in hotel maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or building services engineering.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably on a cruise ship.
