Finance Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Manager to lead the finance function for our Malta office, supporting a PSP serving iGaming, eSports, eCommerce, and Lead Generation clients. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, and mentor the Accounts Assistant.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of finance operations and ensure accurate processing of financial transactions.
• Oversee bank, payment provider, and company account reconciliations, resolving discrepancies.
• Lead accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Manage month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes, preparing management accounts and financial reports.
• Act as the primary contact for banks, payment providers, auditors, and other external partners.
• Maintain strong financial controls, improve processes, and ensure proper record‑keeping.
• Handle regulatory and compliance reporting, including quarterly VAT submissions for UK and Malta entities.
• Liaise with compliance, risk, and other teams to stay current on accounting standards.
• Track payment and transaction activity, addressing any discrepancies.
• Mentor and lead the Accounts Assistant, assigning tasks and providing feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualification (part‑qualified acceptable).
• Minimum 3 years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in banking, payments, EMI or regulated financial services in Malta.
• Experience with payment transactions, PSPs or e‑money businesses is a plus.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Hands‑on experience with Xero accounting software.
• Knowledge of financial services regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Previous experience with regulatory reporting is a strong advantage.
• Proven ability to mentor and lead junior team members.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and numerical skills.
• Highly organized with attention to detail and effective time‑management.
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
