Commis I – Hot Pot Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis I Hot Pot supports the Executive Chef in delivering high‑quality hot‑pot dishes on board MSC Cruises. You will work in a fast‑paced kitchen environment, ensuring food safety and consistency while serving guests at sea.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare food according to recipes and company food‑safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean workstation before each shift.
• Check temperatures and conditions of ingredients, refrigerators and storage areas.
• Discard any potentially hazardous food items.
• Follow MSC sanitation standards throughout the shift.
• Collect daily supplies from the F&B store for immediate operations.

Required profile

• Fluent oral and written English.
• Documented experience of at least two contracts in a similar role on a cruise ship or major hotel operating under International Food Safety Standards, or a proven record as a 2nd cook in a related section.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Valid passport with at least six months validity before joining.
• Good health declaration from a recognized doctor.
• Clear criminal record prior to embarkation.

Required skills

• STCW95/2010 certification (basic firefighting, personal survival techniques, elementary first aid, personal security and social responsibility, security awareness, passenger ship familiarisation).
• Food safety compliance and temperature monitoring.
