Senior Character Concept Artist - New IP

About the role

4A Games is looking for a Senior Character Concept Artist for a new IP project. The role suits someone who loves storytelling through visual design and enjoys crafting meticulous, believable characters and creatures that fit their worlds. You will work closely with the Art Director, Lead Concept Artist and cross-disciplinary teams, from rough sketches and thumbnails to finished illustrations and overpaints.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and refine character and creature concept art that defines the project's artistic direction and supports the gameplay vision
• Collaborate with the Art Director, Narrative and Design teams so that visuals match story, tone and functionality
• Turn ideas into sketches, references and written descriptions, and help create Briefing and Art Direction documentation
• Analyse in-game visuals through playtesting and suggest improvements to character visual quality and consistency
• Help create marketing-quality art, key visuals and posters
• Support other artists with constructive feedback and maintain stylistic coherence across the team

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience creating concept artwork for animation, film or video games
• Expert understanding of anatomy, form, structure, light, colour and material rendering
• Experience in a realistic art style, with believable materials and functional design details
• Strong mastery of drawing and illustration, traditional and digital, with good sense of composition, silhouette and shape language
• Experience working closely with game design and carrying ideas from concept to finished illustration, including real-time game content
• Fluent in English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Required skills

• Proficiency with relevant 2D and 3D content creation tools
• Preferred: experience with game engines, visual effects concepts and high-quality screenshot composition
