Senior 3D Character Artist

About the role

4A Games is looking for a Senior 3D Character Artist to create fully developed characters and help improve real-time technology and pipelines. The artist works closely with the Character Art, Animation, Design and Programming teams.

Key responsibilities

• Create high-poly models of characters and monsters, including clothes, body parts and accessories
• Texture models using a PBR pipeline
• Import models into the engine and support other teams in the process
• Take part in concept stages, propose and develop design ideas
• Support the whole character creation process until game release
• Mentor junior colleagues and plan and distribute tasks for milestones
• Interview candidates for the Character Artist position
• Help build and describe the character creation workflow

Required profile

• 5+ years in AAA game development as a Character Artist
• Deep understanding of animation requirements for low-poly models
• In-depth knowledge of the character production pipeline
• Able to work creatively in a large or small group
• Upper-intermediate English; fluency preferred

Required skills

• Sculpting, modeling and texturing
• Maya, Max, Modo, Substance Painter and Marmoset Baker
• PBR principles
• ZBrush and Photoshop
• Version control (SVN/Perforce) and bug trackers (Jira)
• Preferred: animation experience, real-time hair grooming, Substance Designer, scripting, modular character systems, face creation techniques
